Prairie Island nuclear plant has new resident inspector
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Kevin Pusateri as the new resident inspector at the Prairie Island nuclear plant.
Pusateri joined the NRC in 2015 as a reactor engineer in Region III. He has completed several rotational assignments at the Palisades, Fermi and Monticello nuclear power plants. Prior to joining the agency, he was a merchant mariner and worked as a shift test engineer on nuclear aircraft carriers at a shipyard in Virginia. He holds a bachelor's degree in marine engineering systems design from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
Each commercial nuclear power plant site in the United States has at least two resident inspectors who monitor day-to-day operations at the plant. Pusateri joins NRC senior resident inspector Lucas Haeg at the Prairie Island facility, which is owned by Xcel Energy and operated by its division Northern States Power Co.-Minnesota.
